The research uses data collected from financial statements combined with income reports of 25 commercial banks operating in Vietnam from 2011 to 2020. Using quantitative methods, the authors built a regression model according to three main approaches: Pooled OLS regression model, FEM model and REM model and then performed tests to select the suitable model. The results show that GDP growth rate, Average loan interest rate and Return-on-equity have a positive on Credit growth rate; Non-performing loan, Inflation have a negative effect on Credit growth rate at Vietnamese commercial banks. The authors provide recommendations purpose to find the right direction to stabilize and enhance credit growth in the future.
