Abstract

Religious Studies
Women's Financial Rights, Islamic Law, Dowry (Mahr), Inheritance, Zakat
This research paper explores the financial rights and duties of women in Islamic law, emphasizing the comprehensive and equitable framework established by Islam to ensure women's financial independence and responsibilities. The study highlights key financial rights granted to women, including the right to earn, own, and manage property, receive dowry (Mahr), maintenance (Nafaqah), inheritance, and financial compensation (Mut'ah) in cases of divorce. It also examines the financial obligations of women, such as providing for themselves, their children, and their husbands under specific circumstances, as well as their duty to pay Zakat (obligatory alms). The paper begins with an introduction that underscores the importance of understanding women's financial rights and duties in Islam, given the misconceptions and lack of awareness surrounding these issues. The research questions focus on whether women have financial rights in Islam, what these rights entail, and whether women have financial obligations. The study aims to clarify these rights and duties, contributing to a better understanding of Islamic jurisprudence and its application in contemporary society. The research is divided into two main sections. The first section delves into the financial rights of women, including their right to earn and own property, receive dowry, maintenance, inheritance, and financial compensation in divorce. The second section discusses the financial duties of women, such as providing for themselves, their children, and their husbands, as well as their obligation to pay Zakat. The paper concludes with recommendations for raising awareness about women's financial rights and duties in Islam, encouraging women to claim their rights, and fulfilling their obligations without hesitation. The study relies on a descriptive, inductive, and comparative methodology, drawing from the Quran, Hadith, and classical Islamic jurisprudence texts. It also references previous studies on women's financial rights in Islam, providing a synthesis of existing knowledge while applying modern research standards. The findings emphasize the progressive nature of Islamic law in granting women financial independence and protecting their rights, while also outlining their responsibilities within the family and society.
