Abstract

Electronics and Communication
Li-Fi, Underwater Communication, Audio Transmission, Laser Diode, Solar Panel Receiver, Visible Light Communication, Analog Modulation, Wireless Data Transfer
In this project, we explored an innovative method for underwater audio and data transmission using Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) technology. Traditional underwater communication techniques like acoustic and radio frequency systems often face challenges such as high latency, low data rates, and significant signal loss in water. To address these issues, we developed a short-range, real-time communication system that uses a laser diode as the transmitter and a solar panel as the receiver. The laser beam was modulated with analog audio signals, allowing the transmission of sound through a water-filled medium. On the receiving end, the solar panel converted the light back into electrical signals, which were amplified and played through a speaker. The system was tested across varying distances and light conditions, and it successfully demonstrated clear audio transmission up to 40 cm. This work highlights the potential of Li-Fi as a simple, cost-effective, and efficient alternative for underwater communication in shallow and controlled environments.
