This paper examines how Nagarathars, a prominent Tamil merchant community, played a pivotal role in promoting education, including the establishment of educational institutions and practices. It also explores the life and work of Vallal Alagappar, an iconic figure in the community, and how his efforts left an indelible mark on education and society. Through an analysis of historical records, case studies, and the broader historical context, this paper uncovers the educational impact of Nagarathars and Vallal Alagappar's legacy, shedding light on their vital role in shaping the educational landscape.
