The academic performance of the students has been subjected to many studies from many scholars. All around the global scholars have tried to identify forces and factors influencing the academic performance of students. Therefore, this study assessed parental role on students’ academic performance in Arusha Meru secondary school. The researcher used a case study design, she collected and used primary data from the sample of 61 students and 39 parents. SPSS was used as an instrument of data analysis, due to the nature of the study chi-square test was used to test the hypotheses developed. Study findings revealed that parents play a great role in students’ academic performance since the chi-square test had a strong significance level of 0.000 or 0% (Table 4.38b). Apart from teachers, parents monitor students’ school works, parents supply students (their children) with learning materials, visitation at school, giving homework, and waking the children early for school. Also, parents play a role in communication with the school on academic-related issues of their children which tend to promote their performance. Therefore, in light of this study and many other studies with the same conclusions, it is highly recommended that parents should be closely involved in the education of their children. Such involvement may include the provision of home works; classwork checkups, disciplinary control, and attendance monitoring.
