Computer based communications nowadays are at threshold of making our lives easier in the world, from exchanging electronic documents, to communicating with each other, to sharing information and to check bank balance and pay bills. Information security is an essential part that must be taken into consideration to ensure communication. Steganography is a technique that restricts the unauthorised users to have access to an important data. By using steganography, information can be hidden in the carrier items such as images , sound files, text files, videos while performing the data transmission. Therefore, this is a review paper for the various studies done on steganography. It also analyses the work that have been conducted on steganography and clarifies the strength and weakness points on each work separately.
