VAWT, efficiency, IoT, rotating shaft, torque, sustainable energy, power generation
In this project, we designed a vertical-axis windmill. It is main application is power generation from the wind. Power generation from the vertical axis windmill is used for converting the power to wind on torque for the rotating shaft. Their vertical design and smaller footprint make them compatible with rooftops, building facades, and street furniture, minimizing visual impact. With key components at the base, VAWTs offer easier and cheaper maintenance, reducing operational costs. Address the current limitations of VAWTs, including lower efficiency compared to HAWTs and potential issues with initial rotation. While efficiency remains a key area of development for VAWTs, advancements are rapidly closing the gap with HAWTs. Research in innovative blade designs, materials, and control systems is unlocking new levels of power capture, making VAWTs viable, and sustainable, by implementing the IoT. As the demand for clean and reliable energy intensifies, the exploration of sustainable power generation solutions becomes crucial. Vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) emerge as a promising alternative to traditional horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWTs), offering unique advantages and contributing significantly to a sustainable energy future. This delves into the world of VAWTs, exploring their distinct design features, inherent benefits like omnidirectional wind capture and low wind speed operation, and potential applications in various settings. The paper further examines the technical considerations of VAWT design, including specific types, the science of aerodynamics and performance, and the importance of material selection in construction. It also analyzes the environmental and social impacts of VAWTs, considering their life cycle assessment and their potential to empower communities through local power generation and job creation. Looking toward the future, the paper explores the challenges and opportunities related to integrating VAWT-generated power into the grid and fostering a cost-competitive market for this technology. It emphasizes the critical role of supportive policies and regulations in driving the widespread adoption of VAWTs. Ultimately, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of VAWTs and their potential to contribute significantly to building a clean and sustainable energy future.
