Attitude, LGBTQ+, Rural Community, Alienation, Excessiveness, Disease
This study aimed to determine the level of attitude of the rural community towards LGBTQ+ individuals in Barangay Poblacion, Cateel, Davao Oriental. Using a descriptive quantitative method, the results of the study revealed a high level of alienation, excessiveness, disease, and positive attitude of the rural community towards LGBTQ+ individuals. The study found significant differences in alienation, excessiveness, and disease based on sex but not age. The education level notably influenced attitudes, with higher alienation reported among those with primary and secondary education. The study shows that improving education and awareness helps correct misconceptions and build empathy towards LGBTQ+ people. It finds that factors like personal interactions with LGBTQ+ individuals, religion, traditional gender roles, education, and living environment all shape attitudes in rural communities. These attitudes affect policies and cultural norms regarding LGBTQ+ rights and acceptance.
