Deepfake technology, Deepfake cybersecurity threat, Deepfake detection, AI-generated media, AI in cybersecurity, Deepfake countermeasures.
Deepfake technology, driven by sophisticated artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, has surfaced as a notable cybersecurity risk. By altering audio, video, and images to produce hyper-realistic fraudulent content, deepfakes threaten personal privacy, national security, and the integrity of organizations. This paper delves into the processes involved in creating deepfakes, examines the potential dangers they present—including misinformation campaigns and identity theft—and assesses the current detection methods and counteractive measures. The study also emphasizes the necessity for strong regulatory frameworks and advanced AI-driven solutions to address the escalating impact of synthetic media in the digital realm.
