Abstract

Autonomisation des femmes, espérance de vie, femmes salariées, méthode des doubles moindres carrés à variables instrumentales (2SLS).
En Afrique, l'espérance de vie demeure un défi majeur bien que des progrès aient été réalisés. L'objectif de cette étude est d’analyser l’impact de l’autonomisation des femmes sur l’espérance de vie en Afrique, à travers un échantillon de pays africains entre 1990 et 2023. En utilisant les doubles moindres carrés à variables instrumentales (2SLS) et la méthode de bootstrap pour garantir des résultats robustes, l’analyse met en évidence un effet positif et significatif de l’emploi féminin sur l’espérance de vie. Cet effet est amplifié dans les pays disposant d’une législation contre les violences domestiques, suggérant que la protection juridique renforce les bénéfices sanitaires de l’autonomisation. L’effet est également plus marqué dans les pays à faible taux de suicide féminin, à faible prévalence de la défécation à l’air libre, et à forte production alimentaire, ce qui souligne l’importance du contexte en matière de santé mentale, d’infrastructures sanitaires et de sécurité alimentaire. Les résultats suggèrent ainsi que l’autonomisation économique des femmes constitue un levier essentiel pour améliorer la santé publique, en particulier dans les pays où les conditions institutionnelles et socioéconomiques soutiennent ce processus.
