Nutritional literacy refers to the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that individuals should have regarding nutrition and its impact on their health. Nutritional literacy is an important aspect of health and well-being, particularly for pregnant women and lactating mothers. All individuals have unique nutritional needs that must be met to ensure the health of both themselves and their babies. Nutritional literacy involves understanding the importance of a balanced diet, knowing which nutrients are essential during pregnancy and lactation, and being aware of food safety practices. For pregnant women and lactating mothers, nutritional literacy is particularly important as their nutritional needs are higher than those of non-pregnant women. Nutritional literacy among pregnant women and lactating mothers involves understanding the importance of consuming a balanced diet for their good health and nutrition. It also involves knowing which nutrients are particularly important during pregnancy and lactation, such as folic acid, iron, calcium, and omega-3 fatty acids. Nutritional literacy also focuses on how to prepare food such as cooking meat thoroughly, and avoiding certain foods that may be harmful to the developing fetus or new-born. Overall, nutritional literacy among pregnant women and lactating mothers can help to make informed decisions about their diet and health to have better health outcomes. The study titled Nutritional Literacy among Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers in Rural Areas of Jorhat district of Assam is aimed at exploring the literacy and awareness level among the pregnant women ad lactating mothers in rural communities of Assam. Another objective of the study was to find out the dietary intakes in their regular diet to have an idea of their food habits specially among the pregnant ad lactating mothers of the study area. Data has been collected from 60 respondents from two villages and conclusions are made after analyzing the data with some statistical techniques with the help of percentage and frequency tables.
