Abstract

This study explored the significance of transformational leadership as predictor for the organizational commitment and self-efficacy among mid-career teachers in public schools in Nabunturan East District, Division of Davao de Oro. A quantitative research design utilizing descriptive and correlational methods were employed to realize the objectives. A total of 140 elementary school teachers were requested as respondents of the study following quota sample. Adapted survey instruments were utilized to determine the level of transformational leadership, extent of organizational commitment and level of self-efficacy. Results showed that the school heads’ level of transformational leadership is very high; the extent of organizational commitment is high; and the level of self-efficacy is very high. Correlational analysis revealed that there is a significant relationship between transformational leadership and organizational commitment; transformational leadership and self-efficacy; and self-efficacy and organizational commitment. Further, transformational leadership predicts organizational commitment and self-efficacy of the public-school teachers. Findings are indicative that schools can leverage the positive effects of transformational leadership to enhance teacher self-efficacy and organizational commitment, ultimately leading to better educational outcomes and a more supportive work environment.
