Abstract

Vocationa Education
Vocational Education Programme, level of course, 21st century skills, pillars of education, NSQF.
Vocational Education can be defined as education that is based on occupation and employment. It prepares people for specific trades, crafts, and careers at various levels in all spheres of life. The present study tries to analyses the status of vocational education implemented in secondary schools of Odisha in contex tof 21st century learning skills. The study adopts a descriptive study and followed a both qualitative and quantitative survey design as per the research questions. The study is delimited to 8 secondary schools in Puri district where vocational education has been implemented. The study reviewed various literature sources to gain insight in to the research gap, the method, sampling and data analysis procedure. Self-made questionnaire, interview schedule and observation schedule were prepared to collected data from students and vocational teachers. The article throws light upon the facilities, analyses the response of students, teachers and to explore various problems and issues relating to the programme. It also provides some recommendations to improve the functioning of the programme.
