Transferring to other schools is a worldwide trend nowadays. Students have various reasons for their transfer. This explanatory sequential mixed-method study investigated the cause of senior high school students transferring to other schools. This study employed a survey questionnaire and in-depth interviews to further explore the challenges encountered and the coping mechanisms used to overcome these difficulties. Additionally, this study aimed to determine the motivation for these students to re-enroll in Assumption College of Nabunturan, Inc., and explore how others can be encouraged to do the same. Findings revealed that financial constraints, difficulty in coping with the academic standards set by the school, and the challenge in establishing social relationships contributed to student transfers. Additionally, it was supported by the experiences shared by participants during the in-depth interviews. Many of them did not want to transfer despite the high academic demands of the school. Still, due to their financial difficulties and the challenge of adjusting to a new environment, they had no choice but to enroll in a different school. This study was conducted in other schools of Davao de Oro, with data collected from 45 students who were former students of Assumption College of Nabunturan. Results suggest that providing assistance and interventions can help improve student retention.
