Ethereum has reshaped decentralized technology by introducing smart contracts—self-executing code that enables trusted and transparent interactions without intermediaries. This paper explores the core principles of smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain and their role in powering decentralized applications (d Apps). It highlights real-world use cases across sectors while examining key challenges, including scalability limits, high gas fees, and contract vulnerabilities. The study also presents practical solutions such as Layer-2 scaling, gas optimization, and secure coding practices. By addressing these aspects, the research emphasizes Ethereum’s impact on automating agreements, enhancing digital trust, and advancing decentralized innovation.
