Humanoid Robot, Sophia, Augmented Reality, Edge Computing, Human-Robot Interaction, Autonomous Navigation
The convergence of humanoid robotics, augmented reality (AR), and edge computing marks a significant leap forward in the development of intelligent, interactive systems. This paper explores the integration of Sophia-the humanoid robot, with AR and edge computing technologies to enhance human-robot interaction, improve real-time processing, and extend autonomous capabilities. By leveraging AR, users can interact with Sophia through immersive visual feedback and intuitive control interfaces, making robot programming and operation more accessible and effective. Edge computing supports these interactions by enabling Sophia to process data locally, reducing latency and allowing for real-time decision-making crucial for tasks such as autonomous navigation and context-aware assistance. We delve into specific applications, including training and simulation in virtual environments, guided repair and assembly, and the use of AR in gaming and remote telepresence. This integration not only improves efficiency and user engagement but also presents challenges related to technical integration, privacy, security, and ethical considerations. Through detailed analysis and practical examples, this paper provides insights into the potential and limitations of combining AR and edge computing with humanoid robotics, suggesting avenues for future research and development.
