Acute pancreatitis (AP), Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP), Enteral nutrition (EN), Multi-organ failure (MOF).
Background Due to the development of pancreatic and an infection that accompanies extra-pancreatic necrosis, as well as multisystem organ failure (MOF), severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) is linked to high morbidity and death. Objective To determine in the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis the value of the jejunal tube. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted at Park Hospital, New Delhi, India, which was performed between April 2024 and February 2025, The total number of patients in our study were 114. The number of Male patients were 34 and female were 80. In 114 consecutive patients who underwent for blood tests and Procedures. We did CT scan for all patients to determine the grade of pancreatitis. Data was tabulated and analyzed by SPSS version 26. Results In a current study total of 114 patients were enrolled with a mean±SD age of 52.61±5.54 years. The maximum age were 61 and minimum ages were 42. The mean±SD of serum lipase were 639.56±209.9. The maximum serum lipase were 1107 and minimum serium lipase were 298. The mean±SD of time of patients recovery were 5.96±1.09. The maximum time of patients recovery were 10 and minimum time of patients recovery were 5. The mean±SD of recovery days were 5.63±0.78. The maximum recovery days of patients were 9 and the minimum recovery time were 6. The frequency of male patients were 34 and its percentage were 29.5. The frequency of female patients were 80 and its percentage were 70.5. The frequency of abdominal pain in patients were 108 and its percentage were 97.3. The frequency of nausea in patients were 86 and its percentage were 76.8. The frequency of vomiting in patients were 25 and its percentage were 23.2. The frequency of mild pancreatitis were 26 and its percentage were 22.3. The frequency of moderate pancreatitis were 54 and its percentage were 48.2. The frequency of sever pancreatitis were 34 and its percentage were 29.5. The frequency of gall stone were present in 52 patients and its percentage were 45.5. The frequency of gallstones were not present in 62 patients and its percentage were 54.5. The effectiveness of J-Tube frequency were 34 and its percentage were 29.5. The frequency of complications in patients were 4 and its percentage were 3.6. The frequency of jejunal tube were 37 and its percentage were 32.1. P-values were <0.05. Conclusion Patients with severe acute pancreatitis took five to ten days to heal. Patients with severe acute pancreatitis who vomit more often benefit from jejunal tubes. When a patient is diagnosed with severe acute pancreatitis, a jejunal tube is delivered to them as quickly as feasible. Patients with severe acute pancreatitis experience greater vomiting and pain in their abdomens. Serium lipase blood testing allows us to diagnose patients with severe acute pancreatitis. Women were more prevalent than men in our survey.
