Abstract

Mass Communication
Social media, psychological impact, academic performance, dependency, interpersonal relationships, digital behavior.
This study explores the multifaceted impact of social media on individuals, particularly focusing on psychological, social, and academic dimensions. With the proliferation of digital platforms, social media has become integral to daily life, fostering both connectivity and dependency. The research employs a mixed-method approach, incorporating surveys and interviews with college students to examine patterns of usage and associated consequences. Findings reveal a strong correlation between excessive social media use and heightened levels of stress, anxiety, and decreased academic performance. Socially, it influences interpersonal relationships, communication skills, and peer interactions. The study emphasizes the need for balanced social media engagement and the development of awareness programs for healthy usage.
