Abstract: Pēriṇi; the word Pēriṇi had been written in some old treatises. But the information mentioned in these treatises is somewhat unfair or incomplete and most of the information regarding Pēriṇi was lost. Any how the work Pēriṇi is now vision to us by Ramakrishna’s revival. This dance form has been termed as Dēśi Padhathi. The Dēśi Paddhathi has been dealt with in some of the later treatises on dance. Though Bharata mentions four regional variations while discussing Pravrittis, no details of these dance forms or their presentation technique are mentioned. It was only in the texts written after the tenth century AD that the forms like Pēriṇi, Preṇkhana, Gonḍali, Danḍalasaka and the like were noted.
