Abstract

Cohesive and Non-cohesive, PROCTOR’S COMPACTION TEST, STAAD Pro, monoliths and Atterberg's limits etc.
Soil sampling and testing is one of the most important steps to attaining success in construction projects. Soil testing provides information on the type of soil, bearing capacity of soil, etc., An unprecedented number of construction projects have been delayed or even cancelled because of soil unsuitability. Soil samples have been collected from the proposed site to check its suitability for the construction of a commercial complex. In this review paper, we performed the soil testing within our lab. We performed several tests like the OVEN DRY METHOD, PLASTIC LIMIT TEST, LIQUID LIMIT TEST, PROCTOR’S COMPACTION TEST, and DIRECT SHEER TEST. Furthermore, we assessed the soil's suitability for the construction of G+4 institutional buildings on our respective campuses. We used the STAAD Pro software. The design involves load calculations manually and analysing the whole structure by STAAD Pro. From model generation, analysis, and design to visualisation and result verification, it is the professional's choice. Initially, we started with the analysis of simple 2D frames and manually checked the accuracy of the software with our results. The results proved to be very accurate. We analysed and designed a G+ 4-storey building [2-D Frame] initially for all possible load combinations [dead, live, wind, and seismic loads]. STAAD. Pro has a very interactive user interface which allows the users to draw the frame and input the load values and dimensions. Then, according to the specified criteria assigned, it analyses the structure and designs the members with reinforcement details for RCC frames. We continued with our work with some more multi-storeyed 2D and 3D frames under various load combinations.
