Alice Munro, the Nobel Prize-winning Canadian author, is renowned for her nuanced portrayal of women’s inner lives and the psychological complexities they navigate. Her short stories often delve into the emotional, social, and psychological struggles of women, offering profound insights into their experiences. This paper explores the psychological dimensions of Munro’s female characters, focusing on themes such as identity, repression, trauma, and resilience. By analyzing stories such as "The Bear Came Over the Mountain," "Runaway," and "Meneseteung," this study examines how Munro’s narrative techniques and character development reveal the psychological treatment of women within patriarchal structures. The paper also discusses the therapeutic potential of Munro’s storytelling, arguing that her work provides a space for understanding and healing the psychological wounds inflicted by societal expectations and personal relationships.
