The rapid global spread of infectious diseases has underscored the critical need for efficient and accessible pathogen detection methods. Traditional diagnostic techniques, such as culture-based tests and PCR, are often slow and require specialized infrastructure. In contrast, nanomaterial-based biosensors, integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), offer a promising solution for faster and more sensitive pathogen detection. Nanomaterials, with their unique properties, enhance biosensor performance by enabling selective pathogen binding and signal transduction. AI further optimizes biosensor functionality by enabling real-time data analysis, improving detection accuracy, and distinguishing between pathogens in complex samples. This article explores the advancements in AI-powered nanomaterial-based biosensors, focusing on their design, performance, and applications in healthcare, environmental monitoring, and food safety. Challenges such as data quality, hardware limitations, and regulatory approval are discussed, highlighting the potential for these technologies to revolutionize pathogen detection while ensuring rapid, on-site results in diverse settings.
