Abstract

Internet of Things Engineering
Body-Tilt Communication, Smart Gloves, Flex Sensors, Arduino Nano, MPU6050, NodeMCU, Pulse, SPO₂, Temperature, IoT Alerts, Machine Learning.
This project introduces a unified assistive system designed to support individuals with paralysis by improving communication, continuous health tracking, and emergency responsiveness. The solution integrates two primary subsystems: a torso-tilt communication interface and sensor-enabled smart gloves. The tilt-based module employs an MPU6050 sensor paired with an Arduino Nano to interpret subtle upper-body movements and convert them into predetermined messages delivered through IoT notifications. The smart gloves utilize flex sensors to recognize fingerbased gestures that can trigger commands or emergency alerts. Additionally, a health monitoring unit measures pulse rate, oxygen saturation, and body temperature using biomedical sensors connected to Arduino and NodeMCU for real-time cloud transmission. Machine learning models—including Support Vector Classifier, Random Forest, and Decision Tree—analyze these parameters to detect abnormalities and automatically alert caregivers. Together, these integrated components enhance the independence of paralyzed individuals, promote timely caregiver interaction, and support proactive health management.
